July 2024
Many of you have asked to see the bio for our new GM Steven Mills. If you were not able to watch the announcement live, or prefer to read it, here you go.
We hope you have had an opportunity to introduce yourself if you have been in the park the past week. He’s definitely been a treasure find!
Experienced as a nonprofit leader, Steven has a diverse background in leadership, consulting, and military service. He brings extensive expertise in strategic planning, financial oversight, and operational leadership.
Steven joined the US Army Reserves at 17 and served for 6 years in the 484th Joint Movement Control Battalion in Springfield, MO. His service included a deployment to Bagram, Afghanistan in 2009. His military service honed his leadership, operational, and crisis management skills. He played a pivotal role in tracking and monitoring military assets and coordinating multi-national responses to ensure the swift deployment of Quick Reaction Forces. Steven’s service has been recognized with awards such as the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
While serving the Reserves, Steven started his non-profit career with Boys & Girls Clubs, working directly with youth and eventually serving as Chief Executive Officer of a Club in Southern Arkansas, where he managed human resources, board development, fundraising, facility operations, and program development. His efforts in these roles helped secure and manage funds, ensuring the financial health of the organizations and fostering strong community relationships.
Before moving back to the Branson area, Steven served as a Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for 7hills Homeless Center in Fayetteville, AR. In this dual role, he led organizational strategic and operational efforts with a focus on excellence and innovation. He played a pivotal role in building and leading dynamic teams, leading strategic planning efforts, ensuring long-term financial stability, and rolling out new program initiatives to meet mission goals.
During the past five years as a consultant, Steven collaborated closely with senior leadership teams in various organizations in Missouri, Texas, Iowa, and Arkansas. He has led diverse projects, including developing comprehensive crisis management and communication response plans, grant writing and management, serving as a Fractional CFO, and implementing change management initiatives. His expertise in professional development coaching has elevated individual and organizational performance, while his operational support has optimized efficiency.
In addition to his professional roles, Steven has been actively involved in community service. He has served as a volunteer firefighter and first responder in Forsyth, MO, was a “Big” with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and served as a Crisis Management presenter for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Furthermore, he served as a board member and co-chair of the Missouri Association for Adult Continuing and Community Education’s afterschool category (MAACCE), led the creation and operation of CREW (Collaborative Response to Extreme Weather), and served on the Emergency Food and Shelter Program Board (EFSP.)
Steven and his family are excited to be back in the Branson area, which they consider home. Married for ten years, he and his wife Misty are the proud parents of two children, Xander and Chloey. Steven enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, hunting, and target shooting. As a family, they enjoy volunteering their time and talents at church or in the community, geo-caching, camping, and fishing.

Safety Changes For This Year:
1. We encourage owners to exit and enter the park using the back gate on Saturday, July 6th, when possible, to minimize traffic entering the front of the park. This should help with congestion and shorten waiting times.
2. Security will have a dual check- in place for front entrance. The first area will be up past the Imax entrance and only members will be allowed to move to the next security check-in gate. IF you plan to have family and guests join you for the fireworks (and we hope you do) then you will need to go out beyond the initial check point and use your gate card or ID for entrance for all. PLEASE try to have guests and family join you by 8pm. This will allow for our security team to minimize lines and increase safety to our park.
3. Treasure lake has allowed public guests to enter the park in years past. Upon our investigation, it was discovered that we would need to purchase Special Event Insurance to cover this event, since it is not part of our daily business routine. our insurance plan covers all owners, guests, and family members on day-to-day operations, but special events require additional coverage. The company providing the fireworks display also carries their own Fireworks insurance. If we allowed the public to enter the event, it would increase the cost of our special event insurance even more. Adding safety to events and for our owners, is also our most important consideration.
4. The location of the firework set-off zone is the same as last year but will expand slightly to add safety. The concert will be under the pavilion at 7pm instead of setting up a stage. hot dog meals will be served out of the CC building next to pavilion from 12-2 pm. a food truck by the pavilion will serve shaved ice, Food, and drinks from 12 pm until 10 pm. Rock n roll cafe will serve Hamburgers, chips, beans, slaw, potato salad and ice cream 11-8 Thursday and Friday, and 11-7pm Saturday.
Thank you for your support to always keep Treasure Lake safe.
